It’s not like Alfa’s Centro Stile ever issued terrible designs, but the 156 was still an incredible step forward from the previous generation. Back in 1996, it featured a very modern design with details paying homage to Alfa’s past without replicating any concrete Alfa models.
The 156 was awarded the first Car of the year award in the history of Alfa Romeo. With some 680.000 cars produced, it became the best-selling model of the brand.
