Movie cars at the Paris Car Show 2024

The Pop Culture by Movie Cars Central exhibition was one of the highlights of this year’s Paris Car Show. These exhibitions offer a good sidekick programme for those with lesser interest in cars. This exhibition brought together 25 iconic cinema vehicles and series in Pavilion 7.1.

The cars belong to Franck Galiègue, and his Movie Cars Central Collection is one of the most extensive movie car collections in Europe. Some cars are pretty close to a series production model, others are tailor-made hero cars from movies.

The exhibition brought together cars from various epochs, continents and genres, grouped in thematic order. The exhibition starts with a few French cars from French movies.

The yellow Renault Fuego, is from a 2003 French movie But who killed Pamela Rose, the red Citroën Xantia is from long lasting series Camera Café and the Peugeot 406 is from Taxi 2.

The French cars are joined by two vehicles from the Jurassic Park franchise, the Jeep Wrangler Sahara and a Ford Explorer XLT from the original Jurassic Park movie.

The next grouping brings together Herbie the Volkswagen Beetle, the Ferrari of Magnum, the black Pontiac Firebird Transam of Knight Industries (KITT), General Lee (the Dodge Charger from the Dukes of Hazzard movie) and the Ford Gran Torino of officers Starsky and Hutch.

The next island harbours the cars from the James Bond movies, a blue BMW Z3 from Goldeneye, the black Aston Martin DBS from Casino Royale and the BMW 750iL from Tomorrow Never Dies.

The right side of the entrance was guarded by Bumblebee, the autoboot taking the shape of a yellow Chevrolet Camaro in the first Transformers movie, followed by three cop cars.

The first Ford Mustang is also from the Transformers movie, while the Ford Taurus is from the most recent Robocop movie. The blue UFO-looking thing is the Hill Valley 2015 Police Cruiser from Back to the Future 2.

The Back to the Future franchise continued with the iconic DeLorean DMC-12, and the stage ended with the Batmobile of the first Batman movies.

The last grouping starts with the Miami Vice TV series enlisting the Ferrari Daytona from the Pilot and the White Testarossa from the series. The white Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu is from the movie Drive, and the blue Ford Mustang is from the first John Wick movie.

The exhibition concludes with the two most iconic cars from the Fast and the Furious Franchise. The Dodge Charger and the Toyota Supra were the hero cars of the last race of the movie.

Though the exhibition is not at the level of the special exhibitions of the past car shows (there was a similar one in 2016), it is not the only special exhibition at this year’s Paris Car Show. We spend a lovely hour among these cars and surely would love to visit the Collection one day.
