This year, Polestar showcased a brand-new stage at the Brussels Motor Show, in Palais 6 opposite to Tesla’s chambers. The Autosalon stage featured a design that followed the styling of motorhomes exhibited during the Polestar tour. This tour included two Belgian cities last year, but I only managed to meet a Polestar car at the Frankfurt IAA. The Frankfurt pavilion was however far surpassed by the Brussels presence.
The stage is a premiere for Polestar in several aspects. This is the first time for a Polestar stage at the Brussels Motor Show, but also a Belgian premiere for the Polestar 1 and 2 models.
Polestar’s first car is a luxury coupé with a PHEV drivetrain, delivering a combined power output of 600 hp.
All this is available for a whopping € 150,000 price tag, production limited to 500 cars a year should ensure that this money will prove to be an investment.
The design of the elegant coupé takes over stylistic cues from Volvo, it does not take a lot of imagination to perceive it as a sleek S90 coupé. The interior is stylish and sporty, with a feel of quality.
Opposite to the white coupé, a black Polestar 2 awaited visitors. This model is not a limited production halo car, despite the impressive figures.
Its electric power plant produces 408hp, and with a price of nearly € 60.000, it will make the life of Tesla more difficult.
There were not many opportunities to see the Polestar 2 up-close (I took my chance at the IAA, as I missed the tour in Belgium).
This car is a more elaborate configuration with more refined interior than the IAA specimen (and probably more refined than the Model 3 will ever be).
Polestar also laid more emphasis on materials, there is a third car in a room behind the main stage with a glimpse of the future Polestar showrooms and the materials available.
There was also fourth car in the Dreamcars exhibition of the Autosalon, accessible for an extra ticket.

As in previous year, Volvo also showcases its full model range in Palais 5.

Polestar seems to have great plans for Belgium, the company is building showrooms in four strategic locations in Belgium this year. Brussels will be the first city to host a Polestar space, followed by Antwerp, Ghent and Liège. If I ever go electric, Polestar will surely be on my shortlist.
