8. Aston Martin DBS in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace

The Aston Martin DBS served as Bond’s company car in the movies Casino Royale and Quantum of solace. Bond was indeed treated well, as the Aston Martin DBS was the top of the Aston line-up in 2007, replacing the Vanquish. The car is based on the V12 grand tourer DB9 and is one of the best-looking Aston Martins of all time, in our books.

The DBS was seen for the very first time in the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale, even before its official premiere in 2007 at Pebble Beach. As the scenes were shot well before the DBS entered production, the cars used were prototypes based on DB9 mules. Most manufacturers destroy their preproduction prototypes, but for Aston, James Bond does it for them… How cool is that? 😊

Compared to Aston’s efforts, the car plays a minimal role in the movie. Its only gadget was the glovebox containing a spare pistol, silencer, and a medical kit with a defibrillator.

Bind drove the DBS to the Casino Royale in Montenegro, and he later totalled the car while trying to avoid hitting Vesper. Another DBS was shown in the final scene, and that vehicle returned at the beginning of the next move Quantum of solace, in one of the best car chases of all time.

Quantum of solace starts with the Aston Martin DBS V12 rushing through the mind-blowing scenery of Garda Lake, chased by two Alfa Romeos. Bond’s DBS manages to escape despite sustaining heavy damages, including losing one of the bulletproof doors. In the end, Bond delivers Mr White to MI6, whom he captured at the end of the previous movie.
