The ultimate faceoff at Antwerp Concours: BMW vs Mercedes

The Antwerp Concours d’ Elegance proclaimed winners in each category. As we already gave away in the first part of this article, the overall winner of the event did not come from Germany, but each brand had its own category. The award for the best BMW under the duel of the giants theme was given to the 1957 BMW 507 Roadster.

We could certainly not argue with that, the 507 is definitely one of the coolest BMWs of all time. The 507s score really high at auctions, and in this arena, the car is finally a perfect match for the arch-rival Gullwings.

But for the sake of the game, we want to offer at least an alternative, so we nominate the silver E9 6er Batmobile.

Among the Mercedes cars, we had two finalists in our mind, and we are happy to see that the best Mercedes of the duel of the giants expo went to one of them, the 1939 Mercedes 320A Cabriolet Mannheim.

If you ask for an alternative, we could point to any of the two Gullwings, but the red Mannheim was also our clear favourite.

If you have another preference, let us know in the comment window.

As for the rest, there will be over a dozen awards to proclaim. We think it’s safe to say, that our article left quite some firecrackers for the next article.
