The future of hypercars at the Zoute Concours special stage

The concours d’elegance is a traditional part of the Zoute Grand Prix, featuring dozens of rare classic and modern-day cars in several categories.

One of the highlights was the special stage where the hypercars of the (quite near) future are presented. Each of the six cars could steal the show at any major car event.

The set of six cars starts off with a local challenger. The Krugger FD is the latest creation of Fred Krugger, a Belgian creator of custom-built rides.

The vehicle features an impressive technology under the metal sheet: the retro-futuristic four-wheeler houses a magnificent Bentley W12 in the back.

The interior follows the same philosophy, the designers remained faithful to the car’s guiding principles to the last bolt.

As the seating layout is concerned, there can be only one (Krug(g)er, get it? ? )…

Next up is a Pininfarina Battista, the first electric car by Automobili Pininfarina, named after the founder Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina.

The Pininfarina Battista was unveiled in Geneva this year and is scheduled to arrive in 2020 as the most powerful road-legal car ever designed and built-in Italy. Its Remac electric powertrain will have a whopping 1900 hp and 2,300 Nm torque with zero emissions.

Only 150 units of this exclusive sportscar are scheduled to be built, and so far a few preproduction models circulate the continent to draw the attention of interested buyers.

I saw a white one in Frankfurt, this is a silver one with much more detailed bodywork, while the host even showed me around in the interior of the car.

The third one is a Dallara Stradale, a sportscar with extreme racing capacities that can also be driven on public roads. This is the first road car for the Italian marque with a legendary racing background.

The De Tomaso P72 concept car made headlines a few weeks ago with the possible return of the once-great brand.

The P72 pays homage to the original De Tomaso – Shelby P70.  A limited production of 72 cars will be produced from this modern-day time machine.

The odd one out is the Bugatti Chiron Sport, as it is a production car, compared to the very limited sales target for the others.

This car is, however, not the “standard” Chiron, but a sportier take on the ultimate supercar.

The Chiron Sport follows the footsteps of the legendary French brand in braking every record and surpassing every competitor.

The final car in the row is a Bugatti Centodieci, another exclusive model promised for the following model years. The car was announced quite recently, and although I expected it to be resented at the IAA, Bugatti failed to show up in the end.

The design pay homage to the EB110, the first modern Bugatti hypercar since the world war. Only 10 Centodieci is planned to be built, at the Atelier in Molsheim, the marque’s home base in France.

So there you have six fundamentally different cars, most of them available next year for the wealthiest customers. They each follow a different concept, from custom built retro-futuristic W12 through street version of racing technology and coachbuilt on the over the top platform of the Chiron down to an all electric hypercar that outpowers everything. They have one thing in common: they made of the stuff of dreams…

In case you would like to see a good recap of Bugatti’s history, I recommend to read my review on the Bugatti exhibition of the Cité de l’Automobile.
