Gooding Christie’s return to Retromobile was magnificent

This year, Christie’s stepped in as the official auction house of Rétromobile, realising over €50 million in total sales. The auction delivered an impressive show, featuring a selection of exquisite specimens from every epoch, and we left with lasting impressions.

For decades, Rétromobile had worked with Parisian auction house Artcurial, but in 2026, Gooding & Christie’s took over as the official auctioneers. Christie’s is not entirely new to Paris, though: their Motor Car Department handled Rétromobile auctions from 2002 to 2007. The results demonstrated the organisers’ commitment to curating a memorable selection of cars.

The Auction occupied the ground floor of Hall 7, and the exhibited cars offered a great spectacle for visitors, even if you needed an extra ticket to enter the premises of the showcase.

We spotted a few prewar models, but the majority of cars came from the postwar classic and modern era, including a few recent supercars.

The top lot of the sale proved to be the 1984 Ferrari 288 GTO, sold for €9,117,500. The 2018 Ferrari FXX K Evo also fared well with a figure of €6,980,000.

Additional top sales throughout the day included the French classic 1938 Talbot-Lago T150-C-SS Teardrop Coupe, sold for €6,755,000,

The auction highlights also included a Giallo Fly 1971 Lamborghini Miura P400 SV, sold for €3,380,000, and a 1938 Bugatti Type 57C Atalante, sold for €2,255,000.

And the seven-figure cars continue….

2021 Ferrari Monza SP1, sold for €2,480,000

1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso, sold for €1,242,500

2013 Ferrari 458 GTE, sold for €1,130,000

1966 Shelby 427 Cobra, sold for €1,062,500

In addition, some of the six-figure cars set records for the model concerned, such as the 1975 Lancia Stratos HF Stradale, which sold for €815,000, and the 1994 Ferrari 512 TR Speciale, which sold for €747,500.
