The ultimate European automotive events calendar 2021 – december update
If you still need a retrospective on 2020, stick to this one. I meticulously updated it until the last cancellations… 🙁
A few years ago, I started compiling an automotive bucket list as a sort of a new year’s resolution. If you are planning to see brilliant car events in Europe, this article might be your best bet.
For the year 2020, every event is now updated with a link to the event report (where I attended), while some of the dates are now in constant changes due to the Coronavirus pandemic. For now it is likely that every single car event will be cancelled in Europe until spring 2021. As I am constantly updating this calendar with new developments, I recommend to revisit this article from time to time.

I recommend to revisit that article, as it includes the links to my reports of the 10 events that I actually attended in 2019. Given the permanent interest, the calendar was regularly updated until last week, with fresh impressions and links to my reports, whenever I could attend. So the 2019 calendar might still prove usefoul, but if you are already planning your events for 2020, this is the article your were looking for.
This is the second events calendar on Egzostive, this time for the year 2020. Every event is now updated with a link to the event, while some of the dates are not yet finalised. As for this year’s changes, some bi-annual events are falling out of the calendar, like IAA, that is substituted by the Paris Car Show and Hungaroring Classic, that has to make way for Le Mans Classic. we also also have to wait another year for the fabulous Chantilly concours. The list goes beyond the usual candidates (Geneva, Frankfurt) and include classic and international car shows, races of all kind (classic and contemporary, with as many wheels as it takes) without the one-off events such as featured expos in car Museums.
The outcome is this calendar, that I regularly revisit when I plan my next journeys, and it also helps me to keep track of what events I should visit. I am constantly updating this calendar with new events and reports, thus I wholeheartedly recommend to revisit this article from time to time.
List of updates:
21/10/2020: The Essen Motor Show is cancelled.
26/05/2020: Silverstone Classic is cancelled for this year.
15/5/2020: the Classic Days concours and open air classic car festival held at the castle of Schloss Dyck is cancelled.
12/05/2020: Essen Techno Classica 2020 cancelled for good, now we can only hope that the epidemic will end by the Essen Motor Show.
20/04/2020: the Concours d’elegance Suisse has been cancelled. Next year’s date is already announced, the event will take place on 18-20 June 2021.
9/04/2020: Peter Auto realigns 2020 calendar with lots of cancellations. Both Spa Classics and Le Mans Classics are cancelled for this year, nevertheless, the biennial Le Mans Classics is postponed to 2021. Other events are also cancelled or changed, like Grand Prix de l’Age d’Or, the Dix Mille Tours and the Tour Auto Optic 2000. For more info, here is the revised roadmap.
31/03/2020: the Paris Car Show announced some major changes to its layout, which might be a diplomatic form of cancellation of the main event of the year.
27/03/2020: Goodwood Festival of Speed postponed to a July date. The revival is in safe distance, but it is hard to tell how long the pandemic will last.
The Concorso D’Eleganza Villa D’Este 2020 is postponed to October.
20/03/2020: Amsterdam Motor Show cancelled. Officially postponed to April 2021, which is a cancellation in my books.
18/03/2020: the 24h of Le Mans is postponed to 19-20 September, but the Le Mans Classics is still to be held in July.
10/03/2020: Essen Techno Classica postponed, the new date is 24-28 June.
05/03/2020: The AMTS – Automobile and Tuning Show was postponed to 25-27 September (new date already published).
03/03/2020: the Geneva Motor Show was cancelled last minute due to general restrictions on public events.
