IAA Munich – here’s what you should not miss!

5. Enjoy the city centre of Munich

Car shows provide a great excuse to discover the vicinity for automotive and other adventures. Frankfurt hosts a few automotive sites in the area, and for those who care less about cars, there is a famous botanic garden. The same goes for other car show cities, like Paris or Geneva.

A speciality of Munich is that the city’s number one tourist attraction is also car-related.

BMW World can boast with the highest number of visitors in Munich and is well known among aficionados.

At the same time, there are a few other sites for techies, like the Airplane Museum Schleissheim and Motorworld.

The big novelty of IAA Munich is that discovering the city centre is no longer just an option. This time, it’s part of the show. There are stages in the city built by car manufacturers, where You can jump off from a tower at Ford or enjoy an ice cream at Wey’s city stage. They are a refreshing experience when walking the miles…

This also allows visitors to take a break from automotive and simply wander around the local culinary and culture. Without exhibition barriers, we can have a lunch break at a downtown steakhouse or go to a local museum.

Speaking of which, one particular item I will highlight is the Art Car exhibition in the Museum of Modern Arts. Their selection of automotive design icons was temporarily extended with BMW’s Art Car fleet (of five iconic bavarian rolling canvases).

So there you go; these are five activities we loved to chase during IAA 2021. Those who plan to attend tomorrow will have a full day to catch up.
