The best Bond cars of all time, from the Bond in Motion exhibition

6. The Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante from the Living daylights

Aston Martin returned to the franchise with the arrival of Timothy Dalton. Aston was not in the best shape, and in 1987, the Vantage was undoubtedly not the most modern or exciting car, but the cool gadgets made it stand out.

The most characteristic element was the pair of extending side outriggers that gave the V8 Vantage an edge on ice, literally…  Dalton’s Vantage was armed with missiles and lasers and was equipped with rocket propulsion. The car ultimately self-destructed to prevent falling into the enemy’s hands.

The car reappeared in the latest instalment, as No time to die pays homage to almost every Aston Martin ever used in a Bond movie. The vehicle had minor roles and was used by Daniel Craig’s Bond character to travel between locations. At the end of the film, the car is taken over by Madeleine driving Mathilde to Matera (that’s a lot of M words… 😊).
