4. The super Jaguar C-X75 from the movie Spectre
This time Jaguar outdid itself by handing over a one-off concept car to the franchise. The Jaguar C-X75 is a hybrid-electric concept car designed by Jaguar in partnership with Williams Advanced Engineering.
The C-X75 concept powertrain is worthy of its exciting design. It is powered by four electric motors peaking at 778 hp. The batteries of the car are recharged using two diesel-fed micro gas turbines. The concept car debuted at the 2010 Paris Motor Show and was slated for production for a while with a whopping million euros price tag. In the end, it was cancelled around 2012 due to the global crises (Brexit was not yet in sight back then).
2015 gave rise to speculations again, when a dark orange Jaguar C-X75 appeared in the movie Spectre and its promotional campaign as Mr Hinx’s car. The muscular henchman chased Bond around Rome, and Bond sets the front end on fire with a flamethrower embedded in the DB10’s exhaust (that’s the car you just saw in 7th place). In the end, Mr Hinx gives up chasing Bond when the DB10 takes a dive in the Tiber.
Jaguar provided seven purpose-built replicas for the film. These cars are visually faithful to the original C-X75 concept. Still, the tech is quite different: JLR Special Vehicle Operations constructed them around a spaceframe powered by a dry sump V8 engine.
The Bond in Motion exhibition showcased a slightly burned-out specimen with appropriate decoration.
