4. The DS E-Tense Performance is a high-speed laboratory
The DS E-Tense was a brilliant concept car in 2016, at a time when DS hardly had any model to speak of. The luxurious decoration and the concept car could steal the show despite the modest offering.
This year the brand arrived with several premiers, including a revamp of their most important model, the DS7 SUV. The premiers did not mean that DS would neglected the show elements.
DS probably also felt that their design division accomplished something worth cherishing and did not let the concept go. Instead, they made it real, stuffing DS E-Tense Performance with the latest race tech from Formula E and other vanguard tech, as a high-performance laboratory. They had a lot to work with: the DS Performance racing team won two Drivers’ and two Team’s titles in the Formula E Championship.
The powertrain comprises two electric motors giving a combined power of 815 hp and torque of 8,000 Nm at the wheels.
DS is proud to show the car, it also participated in this year’s Chantilly Arts & Elégance, taking an innovation award and commending its high-tech and design approaches.
strange car, strange concept. I would say it’s a Hopium for the masses, but the price tag will most probably be eye-watering
