Classic Remise Düsseldorf: supercars of old times in a classic environment

0

The Classic Remise Düsseldorf is a service center specializing in classic and luxury cars, set up in a refurbished locomotive garage (see their website). I had a quick peek and a memorable lunch there last year, en route to the Techno Classica 2017. As regular attendant at Techno Classica, the Classic Remise was already preceded by its reputation. On the basis of what I saw at their 2016 stand of the Techno Classica,  it seemed like a good idea to warm-up for the ‘Classica at the Remise in 2017.

When looking at the pictures below, please be mindful that about a few dozen (the best) cars are absent as they were showcased in Essen at the Remise’s own or at the resident dealers’  private stands. Even with the more or less 250 remaining cars, it was an ideal program to spend the empty  morning timeslot.

In some respects, the Remise operates in similar fashion to today’s modern supermarkets: in addition to residing collections and dealerships, it also acts as a private garage for collectors (offering glass cages to showcases their favorites) and houses a dozen companies specializing in a variety of services. Restorers, spare parts stores and insurance specialists share the building with model shops, antique dealers or clothing specialists. At the same time the Remise is a spectacular sight, where we can admire private collections in the protection of glass cages. While Classic Remise is a comprehensive service center for classic car owners in the area, for us mortals it proves to be an impressive museum.

The main attraction of Classic Remise is the grand hall where the major collectors showcase the crown jewels of their collection. Given the Tachno Classica, the hall and the glass cages were less used. The remaining 200-250 cars are less rare and more recent, such as Porsches, Ferraris, Aston Martins Lamborghinis from the 90’s and later models.
